Fee for Service Benefits Counseling
Fee for Service Benefits Counseling offers comprehensive benefits counseling services available for purchase by community and vocational agencies. Benefits specialists explore how earnings from work will affect an individual’s benefits and entitlements including Supplemental Security Income payments, Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, housing assistance, Food Share, long-term care, and health care.
A benefits specialist will analyze a person’s benefit situation, meet and discuss the analysis with the person, and provide a written benefits summary helping the person make informed choices about working. The benefits specialist may subsequently provide ongoing assistance in monitoring benefits and accessing work incentives.
People with disabilities who are interested in receiving benefits counseling and who receive funding through a community or vocational agency (for example, the Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation) may be eligible for POS benefits counseling.
