We are excited to have Ammar Askari, M&I Community Education and Joe Entwisle, National Consortium for Health Systems Development, who will be sharing all you want to know about Budgeting and Finances 101 but were afraid to ask! What is FICA anyway? Is there really a difference between gross and net income? How can I open an Individual Development Account (IDA)? Learn more about VITA and EITC. This is a “cannot miss” training with valuable take away resources you can use immediately!

About the Speakers:
Ammar Askari, Ph.D.

Ammar Askari manages the M&I Community Education program and oversees the corporation employees’ volunteer efforts in this area. Prior to joining M&I Bank, Askari was a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Education at Indiana University- Columbus. Askari holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Indiana University. He also holds a M.S. in Social & Applied Economics and a bachelor degree in Business.
Joe Entwisle
Joe Entwisle, MS

Joe began working for HDA and NCHSD in 2006, and provides training and technical assistance to states regarding policy and programmatic initiatives related to Medicaid and Medicaid Buy-In programs, SSI, Vocational Rehabilitation, benefits planning programs and technology, asset building/development, inclusive public policymaking, transportation and assistive technology. He previously worked on the Bridges to Work Project at the University of Wisconsin’s Waisman Center as a Senior Research Specialist and Policy Analyst with project development and management responsibilities. He also created and implemented the first automated comprehensive benefits offset software. Joe was formerly the Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Independent Living Center, responsible for coordinating federal, state and local resources and implementation of the state plan for independent living. He has also worked for the state’s Department of Health and Family Services Pathways to Independence Project. Joe has valuable field experience as a benefits specialist/employment consultant, substance abuse mental health counselor, clubhouse counselor, and state Vocational Rehabilitation counselor.
