Benefit Specialist Initial Training
Most recent training - May 2008
This comprehensive introductory training covers a variety of benefit related topics including an overview of the Social Security Administration, Title II Benefits, SSI State Supplements, Work Incentives, Medicare, Medicaid, MA Purchase Plan (MAPP), HIPAA/COBRA, Subsidized Housing, Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS), and many other essentials to benefit planning and analysis.
Through the initial training and ongoing technical assistance, attendees learn how to sift through the confusing world of public benefits to find, calculate and analyze very complex information.
By using a combination of research, analysis, planning, counseling, support, and monitoring, a benefits specialist can ensure their clients make informed choices and can help eliminate the fears, confusion, and frustration often experienced by people with disabilities.
