Wisconsin is one of six sites participating in the US Department of Education’s PROMISE initiative, a demonstration of a promising path to success for youth receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

ERI is pleased to be part of this multi-agency collaborative to coordinate services and use best practices to prepare young adults for future career success and financial stability. Project collaborators include the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), the Department of Health Services, the Department of Children and Families, and the Department of Public Instruction.

The University of Wisconsin-Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute leads the recruitment efforts to enroll participants in Promise services through the Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).

Promise services include career exploration, community work experiences, benefits counseling, financial literacy training, social and soft skills training, and family training on employment expectations.

Benefits Counseling Services

ERI provides training and technical assistance to individuals providing benefits counseling services under this grant through a contract with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). More about Wisconsin Promise Benefits Counseling Services.

ERI is also a provider of benefits counseling services to Wisconsin Promise youth and family members. Providing counseling for the whole family is a unique approach being explored through Promise. Benefit Specialists meet with families to provide just-in-time information and are available to provide support and discuss benefit issue as employment or family situations change.

Materials Development and Design

ERI also provides branding, materials development and web design for the Promise project through a contract with University of Wisconsin-Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute.
