We will be sending out another email soon with information on how to register for this series, but please mark your calendars.
SSA Series dates/times:
- SSA Series I: Thurs, Oct 4
- SSA Series II: Tues, Oct 9
- SSA Series III: Tues, Oct 16
- SSA Series IV: Tues, Oct 23
(*All Audio Conferences will be held from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EDT)
This training series, which is being developed in conjunction with the Social Security Administration, will provide a general overview of the employment-related provisions of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs, as well as other incentive programs that can impact successful employment for individuals with disabilities.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this four-part training is to provide Navigators with a working knowledge of some of SSA's employment supports and other work incentives, so that they can serve as a resource to the workforce development system. As a systems change agent, the Navigator can pass on the information to One-Stop staff, so that they have a better understanding of available employment supports and provide customers with information that can help in making informed decisions about work. The training will also provide guidance on how to recognize when to seek case-specific guidance from SSA, the WIPA Programs and other specialists.
Handouts will be provided on all of the information and resources presented. Some handouts will be for DPNs, while others will be for DPNs to pass on to One-Stop staff and customers. All of the information, including handouts and presentation materials, will be archived and posted to the Audio Conference Series section of the LHPDC website.
