ERI's Mission:
Rooted in consumer knowledge and experience, ERI develops and demonstrates innovative and effective policies and practices to remove barriers to employment for people with disabilities.
We are a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1990 and follow these principles:
- Coworkers and employers benefit from a workplace with diversity.
- Providing the necessary supports to persons with severe disabilities and enabling them to work allows for expansion of the workforce available to employers and the capacity of business to manage that diversity.
- All persons, especially those with significant disabilities, have valuable contributions to make to their communities. Employment is a major vehicle for making those contributions.
- Becoming a more effective employee through increased work quality and productivity will increase economic self-sufficiency and social participation for all persons experiencing barriers to employment.
- Providing support to persons experiencing barriers to employment is best accomplished by combining professional services with natural networks of friends, family, and coworkers.
- The responsibility for developing accessible and supported work environments rests with local communities.
